Here are justĀ two examples of how the PSL ,much smaller and less well funded than the DSA, sprang into action in the early days of COVID-19 to do just this. There are many more. https://www.liberationnews.org/ppe-for-the-people-campaign-to-produce-and-distribute-masks-in-boston/ https://phillyliberationcenter.org/work/unity-and-survival-program/ > > The second and even more appalling failure happened right after the > national uprising against racism and police violence that was ignited by > the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and Nina > Power. Again, the national leadership of the DSA and the largest socialist > publication, Jacobin , failed to appropriately connect with the new > movement The national leadership of the PSL helped coordinate, and organize numerous street actions against police killings and brutality, with special organizing webinars by the national leadership, complete with templates of protest materials for branches to download and use. You might also want to listen to what Brian Becker had to say last year ,about the police. https://podbay.fm/p/loud-and-clear As far as I can tell, the DSA has a sort of identity crisis. Do they want to be a revolutionary , movement oriented organization ,geared towards organizing the poor and working class towards radical change, or do they simply want to elect progressives to public office, to try to move the Democratic Party to the left? The article here seems to be making the very same point. I am looking, but I can't seem to find a lot of COVID-19 activism, and mutual aid, from Socialist Alternative.
