I read the article -- I didn't see any evidence that the rise in crime was NOT connected to (in effect) a police "slowdown" on the job --- Cops are not enforcing the law as much --- as for cops recycling to other jobs, we'd need national (or statewide) evidence as to whether a NUMBER of employed cops has actually gone down (if departmental vacancies are higher or not). Maybe it's too early for those kind of statistics and the rise in retirements, etc. is just a bunch of anecdotes ----
But aside from the last line which is a possible explanation for the media frenzy about this, I didn't see meaningful evidence --- a sample of one (the LGBTQ cop from Asheville) --- means nothing .... [Aside from that last line, I didn't see anything in the article was the "damning truth" about cop walkout stories ....] On Thu, Jul 1, 2021 at 1:07 AM Kevin Lindemann and Cathy Campo < [email protected]> wrote: > > > https://newrepublic.com/article/162875/damning-truth-behind-cop-walkout-stories > > The Damning Truth Behind Cop “Walkout” StoriesThe New York Times and > other news media are laundering an exaggerated narrative about besieged > officers—one that’s meant to threaten anyone who questions police power. > > -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
