It’s important to note that the Soviets likely supported those causes to increase their influence as a global superpower and not out of moral righteousness.  We’re all aware of how they exploited the struggle against the oppression of black people to engender a sense of nationalistic pride among their own populace while they cared little about the actual struggle.  Overall, it is safe to assume that the Soviets supported most international struggles out of hunger for influence and global power and not out of ideological merit.
