The thing that never fails to amaze me (and of course it shouldn't) is that the official organs of the US ruling class are often very frank about "our" needs and methods and goals (and even reasons) but the way that information gets to the rest of the public is through the "we are the greatest" filters that turn us into the most well-meaning and the most positively effective nation on earth --- throughout the earth's history ---
When someone from "outside" the establishment --- I'm thinking of Bill Williams and people writing in the tradition of COld War Revisionism --- develop an analysis that systematically identifies American imperialism for what it is in both theory and practice --- they get hammered (as in Maddox's screed THE NEW LEFT AND THE ORIGINS OF THE COLD WAR) --- and of course Noam Chomsky gets "honored" in his own country by being virtually ignored in the major media ---- But our side has to just keep calling attention to the way the ruling class (entre nous) admit the truth --- Thanks to Michael for finding that piece.
