Sorry, I typed wrongly. Modi's NDA alliance got 285 seats, not 185 seats.

Well, the elections are played out over 6 weeks. There are some points for
comrades to note.
1. The ECI (Election Commission of india) is a constitutionally independent
authority meant to oversee the
election process in an impartial manner. But Modi violated all rules, kicked
out a Supreme Cout Judge and an
opposition representative and appointed his cronies. They had done their job
to the hilt, to the complete
satsifaction of Modi. But India is such a vast country with so much diversity,
that manipulation of election results
is a rather difficult process, unlike in Putin's Russia.
2. One very senior ex-bureacrat Ms. Sujatha Rao had observed that Modi's BJP
had won 50 seats with a margin of
less than 50 votes and 100 seats with less than 500 votes. She points out that
this is a clear case of manipulation
of EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines). But the Election Commission does not
open its mouth on this. In fact,
without manipulation, Modi would have ended up with less than 80 out of 543
seas. India has an outdated First-
Past-The-Post system instead of proportional representation system.
3. The Left Parties had joined the India alliance, but also fought Congress in
Kerala and lost. Total Left seats are
only 9. One can vote for the left only if you got a vote in that particular
constituency. But in Bengal, they
contested 32 of the 42 seats, by leaving 10 seats to Congress. They got
sizeable number of votes in most of the
seats they contested, though they could not win anywhere in West Bengal.
4. Modi's NDA Alliance had secured 185 seats and the opposition I.N.D.I.A
Alliance secured 236 seats out of
543. The rest have gone to smaller parties, who are not part of any group.
But Modi does not command a
majority of his own and has to depend of economics wise right wing but
politically religious tolerant regional
parties, that depend on Muslim votes in ther respective states. Even if Modi
cobbles up a majority and forms a
government, he will not be able to implement the fascist agenda of his mother
organization, the RSS.
5. Some smaller groups in Modi's NDA are acting smart and started blackmailing
him for more cabinet posts
than they are supposed to get. This has become a headache for Modi anf his
team. If the refuse the demands,
these smaller groups may shift their allegiance to the opposition I.N.D.I.A
Alliance.
6. On the whole, Modi has lost his biting power and CAN'T act like a dictator.
Any government may not last
longer than 1 year and we may in all probability see another General Election.

I think so far, there has been no comment here on the electoral relative
losses of Modi in India. It bears at least a few thoughts in my view.
I put a "gift" free link here from todays' NYT (at bottom).
I have a general enquiry as to whether any of the anti-participation socialists
here in bourgeois elections, would have voted in this election and potentially
voted for the Congress?
Was there "any difference" between Modi and the Congress 'babus'?
If there was, what was the difference?
I mean I put my view quite plainly that Modi is a fascist, and there was some
'value' to the Left in even voting for this ratty Congress.
Thanks for considering, H
