I know from my own past experience in Canada that for every union militant or movement activist who quickly aligned with our views, a hundred more of them who had confidence in the New Democratic Party and its leadership required more patient political education over time. Full-throated frontal attacks on their current loyalties were more often than not self-defeating. I expect that lesson has also been learned in relation to the Democratic Party by Marxists who are active in the US unions and social movements .
