It is a good article indeed, but still doesn't explain why the working class responds to the same message less favorably when delivered by leftists. I think the underlying reason is both the lack of authenticity, which is an inherent aspect of representative democracy (it's nigh impossible for workers to muster funds to pay the imaginary admission fee of politics), and the lack of ingredients in their massage (things that appeal to the spontaneous ideology) that would create the necessary mutual recognition to be accepted as self-conscious, thus authentic beings. For instance, B. Sanders, a man hailing from one of the most affluent neighborhoods on earth, talking as if he were a miner or a construction worker doesn't rouse the slightest impression that what we are receiving is a sincere massage. Unfortunately and naturally, as a consequence of representative democracy in a society dominated by the bourgeois both big or small, the left (in the broadest sense) mostly consists of millionaires striving to be perceived as modest individuals who are in good company with the workers doesn't pass the basic scrutiny, whereas a more loaded person from a more fortified place who acknowledges immediately observable facts and goes from there to give his leftist message resonates with the working class.
