Russia has declared both Donestk and Luhansk as "part of Russia" trouncing on Ukraine, a much weaker nation. But that is not all. Russia has also declared both , Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Crimea, and Kherson oblasts (states/provinces) to be part of Russia. Why? Because it satisfies Putin's belief that it is necessary to rebuild the boundaries of the Russian Empire or the USSR. All new maps in Russia indicate this is so.
