I consider that anyone who is forced to operate underground and seeks to 
overthrow a repressive state or occupying power at the risk of their lives, 
jobs, prison, and exile is a revolutionary. Lenin and the Bolsheviks and the 
other parties which combined to make the February revolution well before it 
occured fit that description.  I would describe non-socialists like the 
Islamist Yahya Sinwar as revolutionaries even though I don't share their 
politics.

Comfortable Western intellectuals who boast of their "revolutionary" 
credentials in an especially aggressive way in a society where they are able to 
express their opinions freely without fear of consequence impress me not at all.
