Just a brief note on this: Leaving aside that there exists no evidence at all that this was a suicide because of fearing repression, there was also no reason for Bogdanov to have such fears.

At that time (March 1928), Stalin and Bukharin were in power in the USSR. Bukharin was always sympathetic to Bogdanov's philosophy and Stalin was also said to be sympathetic towards him. So, why should he have committed suicide?

"In March 1928 Bogdanov attempted to perform a transfusion with a critically illĀ  student from Moscow University, a standard procedure at the institute. However incompatibilities in the blood of Bogdanov and the student which could not have been foreseen at the time caused the operation to fail."

Bogdanov was trying to commit suicide?
NotĀ  plausible.
