We don't have democratic governance on this list, and the vast majority of
online lists do not owing to the overhead of holding nominations, elections,
and the other electoral processes. No one was interested in that two years ago
when we first raised the issue of list governance. So we accrued a list of
seven moderators who function in rough consensus on issues of moderation and
exclusion.
Of course, this point on democracy was raised by the person who sent us a post
advocating that a foreign power take charge of Syria's internal affairs. I
wanted more of a discussion on that because I'm not sure Abraham had read it
before copying it to 14 mailings lists. When I criticized the post, he started
talking about Ukraine and NATO.
