Which doesn't mean abstention from the Mamdani movement. It will likely have to struggle to implement its relatively modest housing, food, and policing measures, and the masses primarily learn through struggle, further informed by socialist activists in their midst. It doesn't mean "tailing" the movement either. I think the proposals for medicare and public banking, for example, already have wide currency within this milieu and would be well received. But it's telling that the Mamdani leadership, bolder than most, still believes it needs bourgeois support for its reforms and on that basis refused to challenge Jeffries and endorsed him ahead of a challenger to his left - - unnecessarily timid, in my view, but something to take into account. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
