Just Charles being Charles. :)

He knows with the rest of us that his selected quotes all predate the First
World War, before both became part of the antiwar Zimmerwald movement and
particularly before Trotsky joined the Bolsheviks in 1917. Not only joined, but
was entrusted by Lenin with the task of organizing the October Revolution as
head of the Military Revolutionary Committee and then defending it as Commissar
of War and head of the Red Army.  Notably, Lenin also proposed that Trotsky
become the Deputy Chair of the Council of People's Commissars in 1922 when his
health was failing, leading many to interpret it as a sign that he favoured
Trotsky as his successor.  The two had their differences over Brest-Litovsk and
Trotsky's policy on the trade unions but within the framework of deep respect
for each other's theoretical and practical abilities and commitment to the
party and the revolution.
