I was speaking in general and should have made that clear. But https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1503974668396725&set=a.509408114520057 is an example or what I am referring to with regard to the general strike. The facebook posting above calls for a "general strike" but at least identifies the group as socialistswithoutborders. There are plenty examples of calls for a general strike today with a poster that does not address who is calling the march. As if the organization of the opposition to Trump doesn't matter. > > It is no business of others to tell other comrades how to struggle, how to > fight. If we are all in a life boat together and if a group in the boat is convinced that we should drill a hole in the bottom of the boat for some reason, then that's our business. Instead of a lifeboat on the ocean, we are in the midst of a gathering fascist movement; the current Trump strategy is to put troops in the streets of major Democratic cities. He has been frustrated by the courts (Trump was two votes short in the Supreme Court but had 3 justices and needs just two more for legal clearance to put troops in US cities the vote Democratic Party). The presence of undisciplined and leaderless groups in front of ICE or other buildings, and the assembly of justifiably-angry people only needs a provocation to create a riot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aftermath_of_the_George_Floyd_protests_in_Minneapolis%E2%80%93Saint_Paul#%22Umbrella_Man%22). > It is our business to give our evaluation to the comrades who propose actions. We need to have an opportunity to talk to them before they are in the streets. Demonstrations, marches and actions should start with a democratic, united-front meeting where all are invited and votes are taken on the demands and particulars of the march. We are not going to defeat MAGA fascism with spontaneous, unorganized crowds of people. > > Their web page is here: > https://www.marchminnesota.org/?emci=b9a990b2-34f3-f011-8d4c-000d3a54b560&emdi=9657b3a3-37f3-f011-8d4c-000d3a54b560&ceid=5249913 > If it is feasible to have a general shutdown or general strike in a US city today, I expect that city would be Minneapolis/St Paul.
