Most Left reactions that we have seen (certainly as displayed on this forum) have been a mixture of a refusal to accept their icon was grubby; or if accepting the Epstein slant is true - then an overwhelming inability to integrate this into a world view. I think this is difficult to overlook even on the basis of just this forum.
I have been writing to finish something far more broader on issues arising out of the might be termed, the "Chomsky slant on the Epstein Affair". Thus far our (I mean by that MLRG.online) current writings are limited to a summary and description (at " The decadence of the ruling class of the USA: The sordid Epstein Files" at MLRG.online 10 February 2026 ( http://mlrg.online/politics/the-decadence-of-the-ruling-class-of-the-usa-the-sordid-epstein-files/ ) ). Since it will take time to I finish broader considerations, I wondered if perhaps it is worth considering what Leftists should learn from this exposure? At a minimum I see these as being possible considerations for leftists and progressives - I am sure others or modifications of these will (and should) follow: 1. Academics should not be given a "free pass" in the left movement if their academic life is not consistent with their political views. Full-stop. 2. Authoritative figures on the left should not be given a free pass because of who they are… I am thinking of the Chomsky positions on: Bosnia was apparently not a genocide - https://digitalcommons.usf.edu/gsp/vol14/iss1/8/ ; the Chomsky positions on ‘free speech’ as per fascists like Prof. Faurisson (French literature University of Lyon). More generally a “dualist" position is inconsistent with a materialist perspective, and likely to lead to significant problems for the progressive movement.
