But they are interested in making him rich, and that matters. The industry 
formerly known as "defense," spent about US $8 million on Trump in the last 
election cycle with multiples of that spent through dark money groups, super 
PACs and issue advertising campaigns. I think that's roughly half of fossil 
capital's donations to the cause. Then there are the hedge funds like the 
Carlyle Group where presidents and billionaires can profit directly from the 
wars that they start. Craig Unger thought that members of the Bush family were 
Carlyle clients.

I cannot prove war profiteering is behind Trump's reckless use of US weaponry 
and military might. But some capitalist businesses are making money off the 
explosions and deaths in western Asia. And we know how much capitalist 
businesses need to grow year over year. I would not be surprised if Trump got a 
cut off each missile we launched, shot down, or exploded.
