This is the first I have heard that Jill Stein approached Claudia De la Cruz
about running a joint ticket, although it doesn’t surprise me given her
politics and that of her campaign manager. But it never came up on Green
listservs where, if it had, there would have been howls of protest — enough I
would think that Stein would not have nominated De la Cruz for VP at the Green
Party convention.

John is wrong to assume the Greens would have accepted this proving that “it
really revealed the Green Party for what it is - a hopeless pile of excrement.”
The reality is more complicated. There are campists in the Greens like there
are in DSA and many of the peace groups, but they are widely contested within
the Greens — more so from what I can see than in DSA, where the International
Committee makes campist declarations with little objection from the rest of DSA
that I can see, and certainly more so than most of the peace groups, which tend
to avoid “divisive” discussions and leave important questions for antiwar work
unresolved and festering behind the scenes.
