Excellent analysis. Thanks for posting it. I have a couple of nits that I will 
send to you in a separate email. 

The only thing I would add complements your thesis: The organization is 
structured to be an adjunct to the Democratic Party rather than exist as an 
independent organization: There are not statewide organizations for elections, 
and there is no national campaign organization that chapters feel compelled to 
implement locally; if you like what the International Committee publishes on 
Cuba, for example, then try and get your local chapter to do that, too. If not, 
then that's too bad. Thus, the "Tax the Rich" campaign is local even though we 
cannot successfully tax billionaires locally because they will switch addresses 
to their house in Dallas or someplace else. Instead, DSA's tax the rich 
campaigns are local and go after the well-to-do upper-income layers who can't 
afford a second home in a no-tax state.
