First of all, in reply to David Walters: I agree about "absolute fascism", although what some call "techno fascism" can't be ruled out. As I understand the term, it applies to something like what "Brave New World" described.
In reply to anthony Teso: I really wish he would stop misrepresenting what I write. I've commented on it before but to no avail. He claims I had predicted the six Trump (in)justices would side with Trump. In fact, I predicted just the opposite. I described the split in the Republican Party over imposing Trump's USPS order right before these elections and I wrote: "This is why it is very possible that at least some of the Trump Supreme Court (in)Justices may rule against Trump’s executive order." In general, I am pretty conditional as far as my predictions because the situation is so volatile and unprecedented, but I think it's pretty clear what I was expecting. And, no, Missouri does not run the other way from what I described. It was exactly how I described it: Kavanaugh upheld the challenge to the redistricting plan after the Missouri primaries had already been held. This throws the general election into chaos. The other point, which Teso ignores, is all the other steps Trump is taking to create chaos and overturn the election. As for the analogy to the end of Reconstruction: Teso can be just as erudite as he pleases, but the point is valid. When Reconstruction came to an end, racist gangs rode through the black community. Their first aim was to stop black people from voting. As that was accomplished, a general reign of terror was established. Trump's plans aren't aimed at black people. And lynchings by private gangs aren't central to his plans. But setting ICE and and CBP loose on the general population as he did in Minneapolis is definitely possible. Likely, in fact, AFTER he in effect eliminates the right to vote. That is what the vast expansion of ICE, as documented in my article, is all about. It's what the other steps are about - installation of election deniers in official positions as well as being poll watchers. Another Reichstag fire is not necessary, although it is possible. Have we never heard of the accelerationists? Teso and others can conduct all the very learned discussions on "patrimonial bonapartism" and all the other things they like. The question is whether the danger is very real and what are we going to do about it? Sure, our powers are very limited, but can we not at least issue a warning as loudly as possible? The main point remains: Teso is part of Tempest. Why doesn't he campaign among them to take up this issue? Why doesn't he write articles for Tempest? He's even free to repost my articles. The same goes for everybody else in this list as well as the administrators of Marxmail. It's true that I could organize a zoom forum myself, but I simply don't have the connections to make it effective anymore. The Marxmail administrators do have those connections. They showed it in the past. Others here have some connections. The passivity of the socialist movement mirrors that of the union bureaucracy. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
