A reporting module will allow the admins to harvest more information from the databases. We can have a few basic reports to begin with and let the admins integrate customized reports.
JasperReports[1] (LGPL licensed) is an ideal candidate for a base platform. I have worked with it in the past and it is IMHO, the best OpenSource business intelligence product out there. Thoughts?
