Thanks so much Bill. I found that httpd file has to be modified with the apache
installation directory (/usr/bin/apache2) as RHEL comes with Apache HTTP Server.

Also are you starting the apache process you think you are? Execute the
apachectl process via its full path "/usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl". The
apachectl program is installed in /usr/sbin under RHEL and is in root's path.

execute the command apachectl -r start, it is not showing any errors/messages.
When I enter http://localhost in browser window, an error message 'Connection
was refused when connecting to localhost' is thrown. I don't find any file in
/usr/local/apache2/logs folder. I have no clue on what's wrong with the setup.
