Hi David,
Thanks for your reply. After much testing, I finally realised that the
problem lies with my network card, which is a compex card that uses the
realtek 8139 chipset. Somehow it refused to work properly with my old
system, which is a pentium pro 200 machine with 32mb edo ram. I tested with
3 of these cards and they all did not work properly. Not only I did test
with linux, but I also ran windows 98 and windows 2000 but the problem is
still there. I therefore got one of them exchanged for a dlink nc100 card
and everything works fine under internet connection sharing for windows 98
and windows 2000. I have yet to get the tulip driver to compile properly
under linux :-(
