I have a gateway machine running SuSE Linux 6.4 connecting to the internet
using a modem with ppp. The gateway uses IP-Masquerading to hide
the private LAN from the internet.
This works fine with every other ISP I have tried, but not with blueyonder. The
requests from my LAN hosts are sent out through the modem, but there is a
delay of 10 to 20 minutes before any packets are received back.
But web browsing on the gateway machine is very good and fast. I can ping and
telnet from the LAN hosts to the internet OK, so the problem only seems to
affect http.
Can anyone suggest how I can investigate/fix the problem?
I tried blueyonder. Their reply includes <<make sure that you access the web via port
80.
If you are not using this port you will not go through our cache servers, and this
could
be a reason why you are having a delay in your pages>> Does this mean that MASQ
cannot work?
