I actually wrote a module to perform exactly these functions, which can be
found at http://dplay-masq.sourceforge.net/ However, the module is not
currently undergoing improvements, and hasn't been ported to 2.4.x kernels yet.
The new DirectPlay protocol in DX8.0 has NAT-friendly UDP port usage
(finally :). Older games don't benefit from this, unfortunately, but new games
written specifically with DX8.0 will. In particular, the module allows:

* more than one client behind your masquerade box to connect to DirectPlay
servers at the same time. Not the SAME server, though, unfortunately. (A
limitation in DirectPlay that I still haven't been able to work around).
* the ability to host one DirectPlay server behind your masquerading box,
to which anybody in the outside world can connect and successfully play.
However, machines internal to your network will NOT be able to connect to this
server and properly see those OUTSIDE your network. Another limitation in
DirectPlay that I haven't been able to work around yet either.

A lot more information about what the module can (and can't) do, and why, and
all of the myriad problems with DirectPlay as a protocol in general can be
found at the page I metioned above :)
