Can someone explain to me why, specifically on a "Server" class install, that RedHat 7.1 defaults to installing IPCHAINS AND IPTABLES? That doesn't make any sense. (I immediately un-installed the IPCHAINS rpm.) Secondly, has anyone actually successfully got IPTABLES to work in a MASQ or NAT configuration in RedHat 7.1? I have seen a number of posts from people in a similar predicament as I am in. I have followed the FAQ's and HOW-TO's, but can't get it to work (no apparent connectivity from internal clients to outside). Everything seems to be set up properly - ipv4 forwarding, routing table, simple weak ruleset. But no worky.) I am using simple PING'ing to test connectivity, as in the MASQ how-to. My next step is to run tcpdump. I can't get any useful info from the system logs. -Matt Make a great connection at Yahoo!
