hi- I am trying to get my ip masq going but getting an internet connection from cox.net using redhat 7.2 with dhcpcd is troublesome. I used /usr/sbin/ntsysv to make sure dhcpcd was on for booting. But the two changes that got me far were to change the bootprotocol in /ifcfg-eth0 script from dhcp to dhcpcd and to reset the cable modem. After typing /sbin/dhcdpcd -n, my eth0 interface was working perfectly and had an ip address and all. i could even ping websites and things in the outside world. I restarted the computer and it started teh eth0 interface fine, but in order to be able to ping the outside world again, i have to type "/sbin/dhcdpcd -n" (w/o quotes). I thought i had dhcdpcd running at boot, it says i do in ntsysv and in the eth0 script (onboot=yes), why isnt it? Also, does 7.2 automatically get the hostname from cox.net and set it up or do u have to change scripts to do so and make it more scalable? -Thanks so much for your help, Marc _______________________________________________ Masq maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Admin requests can be handled at http://www.indyramp.com/masq-list/ -- THIS INCLUDES UNSUBSCRIBING! or email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] PLEASE read the HOWTO and search the archives before posting.
