Actually what helped was resolving the address space conflict on the second
NIC


:) OOPS.  It seems small netwok pakets like quick http bursts were fine.  But



If I tried a large file it would choke like Smaba did.  The network card
config


did not detect the conflict but I saw the initialized address of the sound
card


fly by when it was starting up and one of them was 0x330, and so was NIC #2. 



So I manually changed it and lo and behold it works fine now.  Thanks to


everyone who helped with this one.  It seems using two nics is definately the



easiest/best way to setup a cable modem masq.  And having the configured


properly doesn't hurt either.  I guess I now know why it's called Plug-n-Pray.
