I've seen this too. Realtek cards SUCK. I've never had any problems
with any other cards under linux. Sorry but you get what you pay for.
If anyone has had good performance results with the newer drivers for
Realtek cards, I'd love to hear from you. As it stands, I understand
that these are the best Eth/F-eth drivers for Linux today:
1. DEC tulip (discontinued but great cards)
2. Intel EtherExpress100
3. 3com 3c509
