Hello,

Can I use IP addresses other than the private network addresses?
I got everything working using the reserved IP addresses,
using either 192.168.0.X or 172.16.0.X, but when I change over to a
group of addresses from my office network masquerading quits
working. I really want to use the other addresses so my laptop can be
plugged into my home or office network without changing the network
settings.

Here is what I use in the rc.firewall script with reserved addresses:

ipfwadm -F -p deny
ipfwadm -F -a -m -S 172.16.0.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0

My laptop is usually set to 144.191.175.12 and the Linux box at
144.191.175.225, so I tried the following:

ipfwadm -F -a -m -S 144.191.175.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0

and

ipfwadm -F -a -m -S 144.191.0.0/16 -D 0.0.0.0/0

Neither worked. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

John
