Oh great capitalistic pig. You are missing a nice business opportunity.
Time and time again, I have issues with Linux that I'd be happy to pay
someone $20 to fix. And there are some problems I'd be tempted to mortgage
the ranch for.
Anyone know of a reasonably priced & effective (alright, I know that's in
the eyes of the beholder, but I'm not willing to send Red Hat $250 or
whatever they charge to solve a real problem everytime a modem fails to dial
out) incident based tech support service for Linux.
I'd use it & bet others would too.
It would not replace these forums, but there are many times I'd be happy to
pay a fee have one of my colleagues to telnet into a Linux box that's
driving me nuts & fix something that is broke.
Many other times, I would send a note to appropriate group & hope a solution
is posted that works. This model is not unique to us. In medicine a
consulting physician is brought in and paid for his services. Other times a
roomful of docs sit around and hash out a problem in grand rounds. Medicare
doesn't pay for that.
