Nope that's not quite how it works.
On normal non saturated LAN like yours, the 3 machines do not normally put
enough of a load on your MASQ box to make it appear that your connection
rate is divided by three.
Rather each machine appears ALMOST to have the full bandwidth except when
streaming or downloading large files.
Assuming you have something faster than a 56K modem, (and even then) you'll
get pretty good performance from your MASQ'd machines.
In some cases you actually get slightly better throughput than you would
with an individual connection as the masq box can keep slower links more
saturated...
If you run a caching proxy, such as Squid, you can actually make it appear
as if you have three times the bandwidth or MORE....
Repeat after me... "Masq is good."

hi there,
i had ipmasq run on my redhat 6.1 and it ok. But what i worry here i about a
speed of my connection. corrected me , if i am wrong, my masq box to
internet will be the same speed as provided by ISP but what about hosts
behind the masq box, at full connection say 3 box behind masq box, it speed
is devided.... can someno give me some tips about the speed of hosts behind
the masq box
