My Linux box (2.0.33 kernel) is routing between two subnets and the internet. Actually, internet packets are sent on to a Pipeline ISDN router connected to the internet. Connections work fine using straight forwarding: ipfwadm -I -p a ipfwadm -O -p a ipfwadm -F -a a -S x.x.x.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0 But trying to do the same thing with Masq creates different results: ipfwadm -I -p a ipfwadm -O -p a ipfwadm -F -a m -S x.x.x.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0 In this case, HTTP, NNTP, and SMTP requests via MS IE4.0 (Outlook Express for mail) or Netscape Communicator (on Win95 and NT4.0) fail immediately (split second after resolving the name), but then work if you retry. Each time you try a new site, it initially fails in this way but then works as you browse that site. Again, straight forwarding works OK, and has for some time. So my routing table is OK. Other than the annoyance of having to retry each site you visit, Masq works great and is going to be an incredible solution to all of our problems. BTW, I've loaded ip_masq_ftp, and FTP works without fail. Similarly, ping works fine, but RealAudio has the retry problem even with ip_masq_raudio loaded. Any clues?
