3 per quint= 9 2 per rescue= 4 Deputy= 1 14 in total But each suppression company (Engine, ladder or quint) really should have 4 men, for the 2 in 2 out rule: So you could have 3 quints, with 4 men each, for 12, plus one Rescue, 1 Deputy, to keep w/ current manning. Rescues make money for the town, so it doesn't make as much sense to outsource medical work to Armstrong when FD can do it, and pay for part of the cost of the ambulance. Though, perhaps Armstrong could be used for calls near the Winch. line, as that area is not well served by any existing station, but is closer to the Armstrong facility on Mystic st, I think. Or maybe Wincheser FD could do mutual aid for certain calls on the line (transmitted boxes, high-priority medicals, etc). And *why* is a full response sent for master boxes? Every day, Germaine Lawrence, E2 E3 L1 R1 C2, every day not a real fire, all out sent by first due. Same for just about every other masterbox call. All the "real" (working fire or higher) that I remember, came in to 911 by phone, not master box. Do you happen to know if there are any exceptions, if a fire was ever reported by master box or street pull? If we were to drop to just three suppression companies, reducing the number of false alarms at master boxes would be important, as each box would be the entire town's apparatus. Plus, on a worker, the RIT company is a fourth company called (2 engines 1 ladder initial box alarm, 3rd engine sent as RIT on worker), so we'd need a mutual aid rig for workers, or call men to come in to run a 4th suppression piece.
