To take this a step further - lets look at the radio systems in use in the Boston Harbor area.
1. City of Boston radio systems - UHF + 800 TRS 2. Regional radio systems - BAPERN, MetroFire, CMED, BAMA, etc 3. State of Mass radio systems - 800 Mhz TRS + Highway Dept + Enviro PD + State Parks + ? 4. Federal radio systems - FBI, Customs, Marshals, Postal, FAA, etc etc etc 5. Logan Airport - airport 800 mhz TRS + each airline has VHF AM and UHF FM + private businesses + feds / TSA etc 6. Utility companys - Boston Water + electric + gas + etc 7. Each and every building in downtown Boston probably has its own security and mtnce channels 8. Target hazard radio systems - MIT labs + LNG in Everett + Chelsea / Revere oil tanks + bio labs in East Cambridge + power plants in South Boston, Everett, and Cambridge + ??? 9. Railroad and transportation systems (including cabs, paratransit, livery services, UPS, FedEx, etc) 10. Maritime radio systems - mostly just VHF FM - towboats + marinas + USCG 11. Everyone carries a cellphone Question - when a earthquake or tsunami hits on July 4, how will these radio systems play together? (if at all) Question - if there is a Mumbai style terror attack, how will these radio systems play together?
