Reportedly 3,000 cops will be on duty for the Boston Marathon. Unknown
how many medical or fire people will be on duty.

Lets consider the role of public safety radios at the Marathon. The
most important roles for the radios will be - receiving updates on
impending threats - spreading the alarm if an situation happens -
deploying forces to deal with the event - directing forces to the most
advantageous locations - clearing traffic to help with response -
tracking down any perps or preventing further events.

For example - plane is approaching - plane has crashed - 20 ambulances
are needed at Main St; have them respond via South St - evaluate for
further threats - clear traffic to allow ambulances to go to
hospitals.

Question - what healthy radio channels are available to support the Marathon?

Brookline and Wellesley are both in Norfolk County but it is unlikely
that the Norfolk County FG channels cover those towns

As you can see, 4 of the communities just have 1 police channel. 4 of
the communities just have 1 fire channel. There are no spare channels
for police unless they use BAP 3, 4, C, or W. (That would mean that
all police dispatcher to police dispatcher traffic would have to go
via telephone)

I could imagine that BPD would put the finish line area on 460.30 -
the Back Bay on 460.35 - Brighton on 460.05 - leaving 460.35 clear for
an emergency - plus a couple of other somewhat clear channels
