Presently - each town and city has 1 UHF channel each for police, fire, and maybe public works.
Upgrading these systems to TDMA will double the number of available channels. A town with 3 UHF channels will upgrade to 6 channels. Cost of upgarde = change infrastructure from FDMA to TDMA = change all repeaters and receiver sites Cost of upgrade = change all field radios / subscriber radios from FDMA to TDMA Only exception - Boston has approx 12 police radio channels - but the same type of upgrade could be done at a nominal cost - (conversion from FDMA to TDMA) ----------------------- Question - is there any digital upgrade that gives a greater than 2 to 1 channel advantage? How about very narrow modulation? Could that give a 3 to 1 channel capacity upgrade? Note - no mention of trunking here. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
