Is running "tic mrxvt.terminfo" on all remote systems not possible?
My suggestion is that you leave the termname as rxvt. If your remote
systems don't recognize the term name, then try changing it to "xterm",
and then install it on all remote systems.

You might have to also mess with the TERMINFO variable.

Some people (me included) have reported success with running mrxvt with
TERM=xterm all the time. Perhaps you could try that...? (The default is
rxvt).
