Just an update on this, in case anybody else gets these issues.

I found setting TERM to xterm allows the HOME/END keys to function in
NANO and mrxvt as expected. But then I found that with a document
open in NANO, using the down arrow key, once at the bottom of the
screen the document/page didn't scroll up - just the last line!

Ummm. Not setting TERM and setting mrxvt*linuxHomeEndKey to FALSE,
everything functions in NANO (Hurray!), but of course, HOME/END keys
now didn't work in mrxvt which I use a lot. So that is no good.

Finally, I went through what I done with my old KDE konsole. There I
found I set konsole to use TERM linux.

*Bingo* Using -tn linux fixes ALL the issues :-)

BTW, I did mess about with using Mrxvt.macro... but couldn't see how to
re-map a key with that. Any examples on using it with 'non' typing
keys?
