I am not at all an UTF-8 expert either, nor a console-writing expert in fact. And often a test "just to see" is better than guessing all I want about any piece of code. So either I can do this locally on my computer only, but then I won't have power of subversion, to revert after errors for instance. Or I may create a UTF-8 branch to break the code completely without remorse. Then if (or hopefully "when") I figure a good way to do it and get something working, I will simply report my code on the main trunk.
