Not so much. I just wanted to give thorough feedback (No, I'm not *trying* to 
drive you crazy).

I'll start working on an option in svn-mpl to turn the new system on and wrap 
it in an rcParams-like object. Then maybe we can convince a few devs to try 
using the new system for a while.
