I don't think it is possible to accept this as a solution to include in mpl. No license information is listed with the type1 fonts you linked to, but Micropress charges for a version of type1 cmbright fonts. Plus, even if the licensing was not an issue, we'd have to deal with installing them into the localtexmf tree and then run texhash to refresh tex's database of installed fonts, I see lots of potential for problems.
