Hi- I'm writing again.
I managed to switch my python version to 2.5, and reloaded numpy and
matplotlib. Unfortunately, pylab still will not load:

What is going on? Is ft2font.so broken?
I'm using python 2.5.2 on a macbook, intel microprocessor, mac os 10.4.11
