Yes, it probably does require a different MEX file, and we do not
have one for that architecture.

That is correct. We do not distribute the source code for BPMPD
itself, only for the MEX interface to it. If you want to compile
the MEX file yourself you will need to obtain the source code for
the Fortran version directly from the author of BPMPD (see http://
www.sztaki.hu/~meszaros/bpmpd/).
Out of curiousity, what architecture are you attempting to build
for? I assume none of our pre-built MEX files work for your
architecture?
