Dear all In my project . Optimal placement of FACTS device i have run the ACOPF for an IEEE 30 bus and then using the Lambda values i have determined the bus at which to connect my facts device. Now i would like to find the voltage stability index for the base system and the system with the facts device. This is to show that the voltage stability index increases with the placement of FACTS device(I.E the L-index moves closer to 0). I downloaded a paper called "A comparison of voltage stability indices for placing Shunt FACTS controllers",by A.R.Phadke, S.K.Bansal and K.R.Niazi. In this paper they use the L index as a criteria. How can i calculate the L-index in matpower.
