Thank you for the hint as to how this is supposed to work.
It looks like there might have been a problem with the ant build. It reported
SUCCESS, but I think some components were missing from the .war file.
It is now unpacking correctly. Problem solved.

I think the Wiki is missing a step where you need to move a WEB-INF under the
matterhorn directory you create in step 10. Something like this probably needs
to be added to step 10:
cp -a /opt/matterhorn/contrib/matterhorn-engage-streaming/www/WEB-INF/
/opt/matterhorn/red5/webapps/matterhorn
cp -a /opt/matterhorn/contrib/matterhorn-engage-streaming/www/loggertest.jsp
/opt/matterhorn/red5/webapps/matterhorn
Let me know if this is the right move or if some other configuration step is
still needed. Red5 started playing from Engage after the above copies.
