Hi Andreas,
we are currently working on confidence monitoring and live streaming.
The good news is that we found some improvements to the EpiphanProducer
so that it get more performant and you will get the confidence
monitoring with jpeg images every 5s at nearly the same CPU load than
what you have now.
For the h.264 live streaming we are not finished with the code yet, so I
can not predict how the CPU load will be when it is finished. We bought
a machine with an i7 quad core cpu for the live streaming and recording
in the next semester. I think that will be more than enough speed...
Have you considered the Epiphan Matterhorn device? I was not able to
test it yet, but the colleagues from USASK seem to be very impressed.

processing power and thus is more likely to bring in hassle with the

I hope there are some recommendations to this out there :): should we
go for QuadCore or is it not worth it?
