I've reviewed the config and can't see anything wrong. Clearly the CA is
able to talk to the core and the URL for the CA is correct (though I
believe the core doesn't need to call the CA?). The logs also seem to
show nothing untoward.

I had similar issues with a MH 1.2 capture agent. In my case it seems
some UTF-8 characters were the culprit (or their handling, to be exact.).
I would suggest you firstly check /opt/matterhorn/cache/schedule.ics
It should exist and be of reasonable size. In my case it grew to some
500MB of gibberish.
I assume you have checked the date/time on that CA are correct etc?
