I think it would work but it's not ideal as there's data loss each time
you encode.  Can you file this as a bug in MH?


Sure will do.

Capturing in non-mpeg2 would work too, and then you wouldn't need to
transcode.


That certainly sounds reasonable - and a solution that hadn't occurred to me!
