10.04 is the only LTS version currently available, but it is/was
affected by a critical bug which crippled h264 encoding on the CA (the
core can still be run on 10.04).  If you don't need h264 capture then
10.04 will work fine for both the core and the CA.  Newer versions of
Ubuntu may or may not work, but we unfortunately do not have the
resources to test extensively.  11.10 is known to *not* work easily for
the CA.
