Dr Leslaw, The last time I tried Red5 to stream mp4 files I was unable to get it to work successfully and could not use it for that purpose.
Streaming to desktops and mobile devices requires both Flash streaming (RTMP) and HLS streaming (for iPhone and iPad). Wowza and Adobe offer these services, Red5 does not. To use Adobe your encoder must generate an RTMP stream. Wowza is more flexible with provisions for RTSP, and RTP in addition to RTMP and works well with our encoders. If anyone has more current information, please let me know.
